Mrs. Jessica Cetoute -Dixon

Hello I am Mrs. Jessica Dixon , not only am I a teacher ,I am married and a mother to two young boys. We have just moved  to Woodlynne New Jersey From New York and I am very excited to teach you and learn from you ;the students and parents.

I currently hold a Masters degree in Special Education and in Early childhood Education. I have been teaching grades pre-school to middle school for the past 7 years and hoping to continue on that path for many years to come.

I enjoy reading, painting, cooking spending time with my family and most of learning new languages. I can currently read and write Haitian Creole and understand some Spanish because my family originated from Haiti and Dominican Republic. On my free time I am learning Taiwanese Chinese to broaden my language pallet. My dream for learning different languages is that I become culturally competent to be able to communicate with my students and their families.

My Educational philosophy stems from a marriage of constructivism, behaviorism, and socialism, someone might say I am a bit progressive in the sense that all these philosophies are student centered. It just means that when I am teaching students I am considering their educational needs, goals and using their responses to the information that is being taught as my guidance to move on to other appropriate learning task. I believe it is important that children learn in a structured developmentally appropriate environment and this environment can be created by both  teachers and parents when we work together. I use communication, consistency and reliable teaching strategies to ensure learning and success in my classroom. I believe in routines with purpose because it will teach children of all ages how to work independently and develop successful learning habits. When children have good working habits they would learning what being accountable mean and then they will see how being consistent and accountable reaps rewards and achievements.

I look forward to meeting you and growing with you on this new chapter in your Education !
