 Spartan Club Program

Our Mission:

Woodlynne Middle School’s Spartan Club Program seeks to create a culture of excellence by recognizing individual student growth as well as building partnerships with the community, parents, staff and students.

Goals:

* Celebrate individual growth and achievement

* Improve school accountability (attendance, punctuality, behavior, character, and scholarship)

* Build parent and community involvement

* Increase school spirit and morale

* Encourage service to others

Spartan Club

The Spartan Club runs from marking period to marking period. In order to be recognized for this honorary reward, students must meet the following criteria for the preceding marking period:

Requirements:

* Clean disciplinary record-no discipline referrals acted upon in the office

* Good attendance-no more than two (2) unexcused absences per marking period. All medical notes must be submitted to the attendance office by the end of the marking period.

* School Assignments-1-3 assignments may be missed, depending on the card level. School assignments include homework and class assignments.

* Participation in a school activity, sport, or community service. All students are encouraged to participate, but it is a requirement to be eligible for the Spartan Club Program. The school activities include wellness activities, clubs (including homework clinic), and sports. The Woodlynne Middle School School Spirit & Community Service Participation Form is available in the main office and on the website.

The only difference between earning the leveled cards are grades and completed assignments.

Rewards (vary per card):

 * End of the Marking Period Event-All students in the Spartan Club will participate in a special activity during school.

* Quiz Exemption-Students may redeem one time per course. For example, if a student uses the quiz exemption in math during the second marking period, they must choose a different course if they qualify again.

* Homework Exemption-Students may redeem one time per course. (same as the Quiz Exemption)

* Raffle-Based on the leveled card students receive, they will receive tickets to enter into a drawing with many special giveaways.

* Free pass to Special Events or Activities-All gold card members will receive free pass/admission to special events or activities. These activities may include: Collingswood football game, school dance, and special activities at night (Talent Show, Musical, and Drama Play at Collingswood).

**Spartan Labels will be issued to all eligible students. If a student loses his or her Student ID (with the Spartan Label), they may apply for a new Student ID during lunch (ask a teacher on lunch duty). Unfortunately, it will be very difficult to keep track of redeemed rewards (quiz and homework exemptions); the new card will be exempt from receiving these rewards.

This is also a requirement for the Spartan Club. Each student that completes the form will be entered into a special raffle with prizes, one being Principal for the Day. The form is available in the main office.

How does it work?

* During each marking period, students will fill out the activity, club, sport, or community service project they participated in along with the advisor or contact person’s name. The advisor or contact person will date and initial the form. Only one form per marking period.

* As a reminder, at the end of each marking period, we will start making morning announcements to remind students to complete and submit the form to their homeroom teachers. Additional forms will be available online and in the main office.

* Make sure the information is filled out at the bottom. This portion will be submitted into the special raffle.
