“Experiencing the Dream” 60th Commemoration of March on Washington Date: August 26, 2023, 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Location: Oaklyn Baptist Church 29 East Bettlewood Avenue Oaklyn, New Jersey 08110 On August 26th, 2023, Oaklyn Baptist Church and the NAACP Camden East Branch and Youth Council will have activities surrounding the vision of Dr. King and the participants of the March, with a multi-faith, and multi-racial community gathering. Here is a summary of the activity below. What: Oaklyn Baptist Church, the Camden County East Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Camden East Youth Council of the NAACP would like to invite community-based organizations and agencies to partner with us in a countywide event on August 26, 2023, called “Experiencing the Dream.” This day of celebration marks the 60th Anniversary of the famous “I Have A Dream speech.” Although there will be a grand celebration in Washington, D.C., we will celebrate in our own backyard. Our goal is to have an outdoor community resource event. Local organizations will be invited to set up resource tables that will represent the best of our community. We hope to bring together representatives from various educational, religious, non-profit, medical, social justice, and social service resource agencies to unite as we celebrate our unity and experience the dream. Outside, there will be refreshments by local vendors, fun activities/games, medical screening and free bookbags for the upcoming academic year, music and picnic style tables set up to encourage conversation and networking. This event will represent the diversity of our county and promote unity on the 60th anniversary of the I have a Dream Speech. The “Dream” will be experienced. Middle and High School youth will have an opportunity to express their voices through their creative presentation on the theme “Experiencing the Dream.” There will be prizes and awards for outstanding presentations. Our goal is to provide 4 awards. Donation Request of Items: We are asking that you donate the minimum of the following: 6 book bags with school supplies (towards a total of 200) 60 non-perishable food items 6 items of feminine hygiene or adult incontinence products Pantry The nonperishable items will be provided to the Oaklyn Community Food Pantry located at Oaklyn Baptist Church. The goal is to collect a three-month supply of food to primarily support those adversely affected by food insecurity. Please let us know by August 15, 2023, if you are able to participate. Participation by your organization would include: Table by your respective organization detailing the programs that you have for the community. ATTENTION INCOMING 9th GRADE: 2023 Colls Connect Summer Academy. This registration is for students who will be entering grade 9 in September 2023. Registration will close on July 7th, 2023. For planning purposes, we will be adhering to the July 7 registration deadline. Please complete one form for every child you are registering. Cost - Free Location - Collingswood Middle School and High School Campus Dates - August 7-10 Time - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Program Description: The secondary program focuses on building relationships and team building, as we seek to build a culture of connectivity for our rising students. Feeling connected is important and students will have an opportunity to get to know one another, along with some teachers and staff members. Following a camp-like schedule, students will participate in multiple teacher-led activities in small groups and come together for “main events." The Josh Bland and Lt. Jason Mann award are two awards that are in memory of two amazing young men who attended Woodlynne. Lt. Jason Mann found his passion in the Marines, loved his country and family. Josh Bland loved basketball his family & friends.

The Maryanne Kriebel scholarship is in the memory of a beloved teacher. This award goes to 2 students that share all her wonderful traits. Family always present these awards.
